Planned Giving

Compassion has no boundaries.

Estate Planning is an important process that most of us will undertake to help secure our legacy. The Humane Society of Louisiana is particularly grateful to those who remember abused, neglected and homeless animals when making these important plans. Together, we can ensure that our shared compassion for animals continues to make an impact far into the future.

How to Make a Bequest to the Humane Society of Louisiana.

There are many types of bequests that can be made, including:

  • nominated monetary gifts
  • residential and other properties
  • stocks
  • art works and antiques
  • insurance policies

A bequest may be made in support of the general purposes of the Humane Society of Louisiana, or a donor may choose to support a specific program.  A bequest needs to be carefully drawn to comply with legal requirements.  It is advisable to seek assistance from your lawyer and/or financial adviser.

In the event that you wish to make a nominated monetary gift in your will, it suggested that a paragraph such as the following be used:

“I give to the Humane Society of Louisiana, PO Box 740321, New Orleans, LA  70174, Federal ID # 58-1795272, the sum of $_____(insert the amount of the gift) or _____% of my residuary estate and/or the following property (insert the nature of the gift, such as real estate, property or specific items) to be used for the general purposes of the Humane Society in such manner as its Directors may determine – or insert preferred program(s) or purpose(s).”
