Finding Families for Homeless Southern Animals up North
Our cross-country animal adoption program that began in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina has continued going strong for 10 years. We save adoptable animals from crowded local shelters where they would otherwise die from lack of space. These rescues also free up additional local shelter space, lowering euthanasia rates in our communities. We have transported and adopted more than 12,000 pets through this program since the hurricane, from the New Orleans metro area and from small rural shelters.
