Protecting Animals from Cruelty and Neglect
There are many agencies and individuals who work to protect abused and neglected animals in the state of Louisiana. If you have not already, you should report neglect or abuse to your local law enforcement or animal control agency or shelter. If they cannot or will not help, or if you need an outside party to investigate or get involved for whatever reason, please fill out this form.
As a private agency, there are many ways we can help, but we cannot seize animals without authorization from law enforcement. We can assist by giving technical support and assistance, providing vet care for abused animals and/or taking custody of animals from law enforcement. We can also rehabilitate and adopt rescued animals. We rely solely on private donations to provide these services, so our ability to help is sometimes limited by our budget.
Unsure of what you are witnessing constitutes cruelty? You can find copies of the state anti-cruelty laws HERE. Remember, there may also be local or parish anti-cruelty laws in your area, which your local enforcement agency may choose to utilize. The state laws have tougher penalties, but they are sometimes more difficult to bring to trial.
ANIMAL CRUELTY OR NEGLECT REPORT FORM
Please fill out the form as completely as possible, to aid us in our investigation. We do accept anonymous complaints, but it is very useful for us to have your name and contact information, in the event we need further details. The identity of a witness or a complainant is kept strictly confidential, unless he or she is willing to testify in court and/or unless he or she specifically gives us permission to reveal their name in the course of the investigation. If applicable, please photograph, email and/or send us pictures of the animal(s) to help us better assess and document the abuse or neglect situation.
