To forward our statewide animal protection
mission, the Humane Society of Louisiana
operates several chapters in communities
around the state. These all-volunteer groups
focus on a variety of programs, from cruelty
investigations, animal rescue and pet adoptions,
to spaying and neutering.
Our chapters provide critically needed
services for animals in distress. They are
a lifeline for abused,
neglected and abandoned animals, particularly
in communities where no other viable direct-care
programs or shelters for animals exist.
In Louisiana's poor, rural communities,
there is little or no support
or funding for animal protection work. That's
why we encourage caring
citizens to operate under our umbrella,
to help us save more animals
in need, even in the most remote and underserved
areas of our state.
All funds raised by our chapter volunteers
stay in their communities,
to directly fund animal rescue and care
costs, while the donations of
other HSL members support the costs of making
these programs possible.
For more information on our chapters,
please contact our coordinators in their
respective communities. If you'd like info
on starting a chapter in your own community,
